Basketball Tip #1
Posted on January 28, 2009 7:35 AMThis will be the first in a series of blog postings that I will enter giving advice to anyone who would like to read it.
First off I would like to start out by saying that the game of basketball is a very simple game. The object is to put the ball in your hoop and to prevent to defending team from putting the ball in their hoop but there are many things that play into this.
As I tell many of the players and students of the game that basketball is not just merely putting on your basketball shoes and getting on the court and playing. Basketball takes preparation and with comes many things the first being a desire to play the game, if you do not have this you will never achieve your goal in this sport.
Second you have to be a student of the game. You have to study how to be a better player by reading material from the pros of the game and watching videos of these also. With the Kings we study the game everyday whether it is ourselves in what we can do better as a team or what our opponents are doing well so we can defend against them.
Another thing is conditioning your body for the sport. As we watch basketball these days we see the players are getting bigger and stronger at a younger age which means if you are not equal to them in size and strength you have to work harder to get as strong if not stronger than your opponent.
Basketball is a team sport more so than any other sport in history. Of course you have a lot of talented and gifted athletes in the game but if you are not a team player you will never be successful at the sport. Just look at MJ, Kobe, D-Wade and the other great stars of the game and you will see they did not achieve their success on their own.
