All-star Break / Okinawan-American shootout Basketball Tourney
Posted on January 27, 2009 8:38 PMBJ League All-Star weekend
Another great weekend in Kings basketball came to a close with the Kings being represented by five of our team members at the BJ League OIta All-star game. Coach Dai coached the West Team who had a good showing but loss to the East. Jeff and Naoto had great games. Shige did well in three point contest and last but not least Bryan did one of the most spectacular dunks this League or any other has ever seen. He pulled out the ol' MJ dunk cica. 1987 and for those of you that never saw that you missed the dunk of the century.

Okinawan-American shootout Basketball Tourney
As many of you know I was an Asst. Coach at Kubasaki for the 2007-08 seasons during that time I was and still am a member of the steering commitee that organizes this tourney which has been a great experience for me as a Coach and as a person who loves the game of Basketball.
This year's tourney saw 8 boy's and 8 Girl's teams compete for the crown as Okinawa's best.
The teams that competed were:
Boy's: Konan. Oroku, Kitanaka, Mirai Koka, Chatan, Itoman, Kadena and Kubasaki.
Girl's: Koza. Oroku, Kitanaka, Nishihara, Naha, Itoman, Kadena and Kubasaki.
The Boy's Champion was Oroku who knocked off Kadena the defending champs and Naha won the Girl's title by beating Nishihara in a very great game.
Congratulations to both teams for two great games and thanks to all the teams who participated in what turned out to be a very incredible weekend in Okinawa Basketball.
Thanks to all of the Okinawan and American HS players who came to me to ask for advice about basketball and how they can be more successful at the game as a player.
I will actually have another blog entry later this week and will give advice for all to read. More to come.
Thanks for your support!
Coach
